Alila Sengokuhara Hakone opens in 2028 as Alila's first hotel in Japan. Set in Sengokuhara, within Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, the resort sits among open grasslands and forested ridges with views towards Mt. Kintoki, around 25 minutes by car from Hakone-Yumoto station.

The hotel has 60 guestrooms, including 11 suites. Every room has a private natural hot spring bath. A restaurant and bar serve seasonal menus drawing on ingredients from the surrounding fields, forests and seas, while the spa and onsen facilities place Hakone's hot spring culture at the centre of the stay. An outdoor yoga deck sits in the landscape, and meeting and event spaces are also part of the hotel.

Kengo Kuma & Associates leads the architectural design supervision, with interiors by SIMPLICITY and landscape design by PLACEMEDIA. The low-rise complex is arranged across two above-ground and two basement levels, designed to sit within the mountain terrain.
